Retrospective of Works by Feminist Artist Linda Stein

Feminism! Protection! Sexuality! The Art of Linda Stein is on exhibit from March 5 to May 11, 2024, at the Anita Shapolsky Gallery, 152 East 65th Street, New York. For six decades, feminist artist Linda Stein’s art has tackled themes of persecution and protection, emphasizing social justice and anti-bullying. Her works include a series of Holocaust Heroes: Fierce Females, with an accompanying book, as well as a series of Spoon and Shell boxes that evoke sexual violence during the Holocaust. Some of these boxes were part of Remember the Women Institute’s VIOLATED! Women in Holocaust and Genocide exhibition at the Ronald Feldman Gallery in 2018. Her newest works in this retrospective are sculptures that she has entitled Warrior Waging Peace: Addressing Feminism. She is the founding president of Have Art: Will Travel.
