GLZ Israel Army radio station, one of the most popular in Israel, invited Dr. Rochelle G. Saidel to their studio on February 9 to record information about her work on Ravensbrück women’s concentration camp and women’s experiences during the Holocaust. The program will air on Yom HaShoah, April 14, 2026. Dr. Saidel, founding executive director of Remember the Women Institute, was recorded for more than an hour, discussing details about the creation of Ravensbrück, daily life in the camp, and the histories of some of the women who survived or were murdered there. She also addressed specific women’s experiences during the Holocaust. Her remarks were based on her research about the camp beginning in 1980 and her book, The Jewish Women of Ravensbrück Concentration Camp. The book was published in English by University of Wisconsin Press in 2004, and later translated into Hebrew and Portuguese editions. Two intelligent and knowledgeable young soldiers working at the radio station, Avital Gelfand and Adi Shwartzman, facilitated the interview.
