Remember the Women Institute is partnering with Ghetto Fighters’ House in Israel for their Talking Memory program. The first in the series took place on Sunday, January 29, 2023. The topic was: Sexual Violence against Jewish Women during the Holocaust: Challenges and Reflections.
In commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Dr. Sonja M. Hedgepeth and Dr. Rochelle G. Saidel, editors, discussed their 2010 groundbreaking book on the subject of sexual violence against Jewish women during the Holocaust. They paid tribute to early researchers on the subject and reflected on the continued challenges for scholars. Including this subject in Holocaust history provides a fuller understanding of what many women endured. Dr. Sharon Geva provided introductory remarks, and Madene Shachar coordinated the program.
